Directions to Vaughn house in Sunset, ME (Maine Vacation Rentals)
House on Dunham Point Road near Deer Isle Yacht Club
- Take Interstate 95 north past Boston and Portland
- Turn off of I-95 in August, ME and take State Hwy 3 to Belfast where State Hwy 3 joins US Hwy 1
- Continue on US Hwy 1 to Bucksport and cross bridge into Bucksport
- After you cross bridge into Bucksport, turn RIGHT to stay on US Hwy 1
- Continue on US Hwy 1 for a few miles past Bucksport
- Turn RIGHT onto County Hwy 15 (towards Blue Hill)
- Stay on Hwy 15 all the way to the village of Deer Isle. Along the way you will go through the middle of Blue Hill and Little Deer Isle
- When you arrive at the Deer Isle Bridge, go straight across the bridge stay on Hwy 15
- Continue past Little Deer Isle and across a causeway to Deer Isle (you are still on 15)
- When you come to Deer Isle village, you will turn RIGHT off of 15 onto Main Street (Hwy 15A). Unfortunately, there is no sign for Main Street or Hwy 15A
- You will stay straight on 15A (again no sign) and take your second RIGHT. The first right will be in about 1/2 mile (Pressy Village Road). Continue going straight on 15A (still no sign). Dunham Point Road (your road is about 2 more miles).
- You will pass Mill Pond Cross Road (not marked well) on your left, Percy Brown and Son (plumber) on your right, and Barter Lumber on your right. Contiue straight.
- You will then come up on the Sunset Post Office on your LEFT. Dunham Point Road is almost immediately to the RIGHT across from the Sunset Post Office. Turn RIGHT onto Dunham Point Road. If you come to the Sunset Congregational Church on your right, you have gone too far by about 50 yards.
- You will go straight on Dunham Point Road for about 100 yards and then turn RIGHT to stay on Dunham Point Road
- After about 500 yards you will come to a clearing with a tidal cove on your left. Continue straight on Dunham Point Road
- After about 500 more yards, you will come to a fork in the road. Turn LEFT to stay on Dunham Point Road.
- After you make this left, our house is the 3rd house on the left. The first house is down a long driveway and hard to see. The second house is under construction and has a few autos and trucks parked across the street on the right. Our house is the 3rd house with a large open field and a red barn.
- Turn LEFT into the driveway of 375 Dunham Point Road and enjoy your stay!
